Safe in The Storm

Fierce winds are lashing all around me.

The thunder echoes loudly and seems to compete with the sound of your still quiet voice that still speaks to me

I feel hedged in by life’s raging storms

This situation seems impassable.

It feels like I’m caught between the onslaught of this flood and the fiercest raging sea

Escaping here with my mind, soul and spirit intact, seems impossible

Lord, help!

Lord is that you that I’m seeing?

Then bid me “, come”

Infuse me with strength and courage to walk out of fear, to tread these waves underfoot

For I know that I can only weather these storms that surround me when my eyes are locked with yours,

when my hands are secured in yours

when I put my trust only in you

that’s when you will anchor me

your love will keep me afloat

You will help me to keep watch over my thoughts

 So that I can disallow the flood of murky negatives from getting into my vessel.

 I thank you for being here in this storm with me

I thank you for the assurance you have given; that these waters will never overflow me.

I will be still in this storm, acknowledging that you are Lord of all.

Amen
