Forever Faithful

God has called us to himself, not because we have done anything outstanding or deserving. He has called us according to His promise to Abraham when He told him that all generations of the earth will be blessed through him. God made a covenant with us that will never change no matter how many years and generations are to come on this earth, the promise of God will still stand.

A covenant is a relationship where two parties make binding promises to each other. For example, a marriage is a covenant between a man, his wife and God. In a marriage covenant, both parties promise to love, cherish and care for each other until they are separated by death.

Sadly, we don’t always stick to or honour our covenants, but with God- we can be sure that His part of the bargain will be upheld-with or without our input.  

God is faithful- He doesn’t change, He is steadfast, He never deviates therefore He cannot lie- God cannot break a promise to us, because He has sworn by His name. In biblical times, whenever two or more parties made a covenant, they would sacrifice animals and walk through the pieces as was seen in Genesis 15:17. By doing so, they were basically saying they are willing to die if they fail to uphold the covenant.

God is willing to use whatever means He must use, to ensure that He fulfils the covenant that He made with us.

When God covenants with us, He is serious about His vows-you won’t see Him making a promise to you and failing to commit it. When men make promises to you and fulfil them halfway, or not at all, you can rely on God to come through for you EVERY SINGLE TIME.
